Marilyn A. Kamin, 78, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at home, with her family by her side.

Marilyn was born in Peoria on June 29, 1931, a daughter of Fred E. and Henrietta L. (Render) Wisner. She married Robert L. “Bob” Kamin on June 11, 1952. He survives.

She is also survived by her daughters, Karen S. (Gary) Bergman of Red Lion, PA, Linda L. (Ronald) Barkley of Washington and Connie B. (Scott) Cloat of Bartonville; sons, Bruce W. (Deborah) Kamin of Ottawa and Keith A. (Jody) Kamin of Noblesville, IN; brothers, James E. (Rose) Wisner of Peoria Heights and Fred E. (Sandra) Wisner of Sparland; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan and Daniel Bergman, Monica Mathey, Jenna, Kara and Austin Kamin, Jessica Clark, Alyssa, Joel and Andrea Barkley and Audrey and Sophie Cloat; and three great grandchildren, Kendall and Colton Mathey and Brevyn Kamin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gerald, Mervin and Roy; and one grandson, Zachary Cloat.

Marilyn was a homemaker and was formerly employed with Bell Telephone Company, prior to raising her children.

She was a member of Grace & Peace Lutheran Church, along with its Miriam Circle for forty-eight years.

She loved spending time with her family at family gatherings and holidays (especially her grandchildren), shopping, gardening, RVing and traveling with her husband with the Winni-Pooh Winnebago Club and rod runs with The Slowpokes Car Club. Her favorite trips were going to the beach, visiting Pensacola, FL and shopping at Bergner’s Department Store.

Marilyn also enjoyed watching Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan; collecting Hummel figurines and antique glass; and listening to love songs of the 50s, Louis Armstrong and Elvis Presley. Her favorite songs were “Amazing Grace”, “Kiss to Build a Dream On”, “Blue Hawaii” and “The Tennessee Waltz”.

Marilyn loved her children and taught them, by example, how to be good, caring and loving parents, spouses and responsible adults. She will be remembered as a loving, strong-willed, caring and sometimes stubborn woman.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Grace & Peace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. O. Wayne Shelksohn officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, and one-hour prior to services on Wednesday, both at Grace & Peace Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to Grace & Peace Lutheran Church, Hospice Compassus or to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.

Connie & Family,

I was shocked yesterday when I saw your Mom in the paper; I had not heard that she had become so ill.  I have many wonderful childhood memories at your house and always remember the loving atmosphere and fun times of growing up with such a large family.  I will remember your Mom as beautiful, sweet, loving and fun.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
